Laurie Buhlke, a tax accountant with Contryman Associates P.C., has received her certificate and permit to practice as a Certified Public Accountant from the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy.
As a certified public accountant, Buhlke has met the experience requirement, two years in public accounting, in addition to having demonstrated her technical competency, through comprehensive examination, in the areas of auditing and attestation, regulation, business environment concepts, and financial accounting and reporting. As a Certified Public Accountant, 80 hours of Continuing Professional Education, earned during a two year period, are required in order to renew her permit to practice.

Taylor Shoemaker has joined Contryman Associates, P.C. as a tax accountant in their Grand Island location. In this role she works with other members of the department to prepare business, individual, and estate tax returns and provide tax planning for clients. She is currently preparing to take the CPA examination.
A graduate of Grand Island Northwest High School, Taylor earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in business administration, with emphases in accounting and economics. She resides in Hastings, Nebraska and enjoys spending time with family.

...Overall Expectations
An Audit Manager is primarily responsible for the review of the complex attest engagements of the department, as well as providing advanced technical assistance, audit planning and research on complex attest issues. The Audit Manager should assist in the development and training of staff. They have a significant amount of client contact and make associations to develop new business for the firm. Audit Managers work closely with the shareholders in providing innovative attest planning strategies for our client base. The Audit Manager makes decisions on all but the most unusual attest situations.
Anticipated time allocation
85% of time managing audit jobs, reviewing compilations and audits.
15% of time spent developing and growing the business
Overall Expectations
Senior accountants are able to handle in-charge responsibilities on specific projects. Senior accountants report to managers and shareholders and are delegated certain responsibilities for planning and supervision. Senior accountants are also assigned staff accountants and para-professionals to supervise and are expected to review their work in a timely manner.
Senior accountants should show initiative in obtaining the types of assignments and special projects that will further increase their technical skills especially in their area of expertise.
Senior accountants have direct contact with clients and should understand our clients’ businesses and offer suggestions for improving the efficiency of our clients’ accounting functions.
